ZYWELL | The 24 Solar Terms of China — The Autumnal Equinox

2026-09-23

The Autumnal Equinox is the 16th of the 24 Solar Terms and the fourth solar term of autumn. It usually falls between September 22 and 24 of the Gregorian calendar. On this day, the sun shines directly over the equator, making day and night of equal length. After the Autumnal Equinox, days grow shorter and nights longer in the Northern Hemisphere, with temperatures gradually declining.

The summer heat fades away, and the sky is clear with pale clouds. On the day of the Autumnal Equinox, day and night are balanced, as are warmth and cold. All things settle down gently, ripening and accumulating for the harvest of the season.

Seasons follow their cycles, and harvest rewards hard work. On this day when autumn hues are evenly divided, we keep moving forward steadily. We build strength through reflection and wait for gains with perseverance.

May the breeze be mild and the sun warm, and may all go well. May every effort be rewarded in this fruitful autumn.
