White Dew is the 15th solar term of the 24 Solar Terms and the third solar term of autumn. When White Dew arrives, summer heat gradually fades away, and the temperature difference between day and night grows larger. Water vapor condenses into white dewdrops at night, which gives White Dew its name.
Wild geese fly south, swallows return to their nests, and birds busily store food for the coming winter. Nature is filled with messages of autumn. There are traditional folk customs such as drinking White-Dew tea and brewing White-Dew rice wine for people to savour the gentle unique flavours of autumn.
As an old saying goes, “Don’t expose your body after White Dew.” After this solar term, dry-autumn syndrome sets in, and coolness lingers in the morning and evening. Remember to add clothes in time and focus on moistening your body in daily diet. Enjoy the changing seasons peacefully amid the soft glow of autumn.
